Direct Marketing...How direct is it?

Are there any success stories with Direct Marketing out there... I was offered a career job with a base salary of $32,000, but I wasn't comfortable with the door-to-door sales because I worked my tail off in college to be in a corporate environment...not people's neighborhoods...I posted my resume on careerbuilder with my BBA in Management but only direct marketing companies keep contacting me.... Does anyone know about any other websites besides Career Builder that are pretty accurate?
