If you are a small company owner, why would you pay for a web site?

My company offers different services related to the Web. We have good customers but we would like to expand our market. But having so many free services around... Why a small company would select to pay? where is the value of having a not free service? what do a small company would like to receive?

1. In todays global economy I am not sure why you would want to have a web presence. Just as a test you could create a web site for your company using one of the free services, share it with your current client base, share it by word of mouth with everyone you know and measure if it generates any new business for your company. How do you do customer prospecting? Good Luck.
