Home Based Business Marketing Tips?

I just started my own home based business with Gold Canyon Candles and am looking for free or very inexpensive marketing ideas. I am holding a "business debut" party and have invited 60 of my neighbors (hopeing for at least 15 to show up). My 10 year old and her friends taped flyer invitations to everyone's doors. Besides handing out business cards, what else can I do to get my name out there?

1. i think you already gotten off to a good start dont go too deep in marketing...you've done enough for now...wait and see how your turn out is word of mouth is always good; if someone purchase your items then give them a few extra flyers for them to take to their job and ask if they no anyone at their job who might be interested to give them your flyer ......
2. Sounds like fun! If you have kids, you must have a great contact list. Talk to your friends and family...sounds like they would be the first to invite, along with other moms you know. I would be more comfortable starting with people I know...I don't care for having strangers in my home, but everyone's different. Although, neighbors are great and I don't think I would really consider them strangers...it's a great way to make new friends. Some other ideas would be to ask for referrals, especially if you have people that cannot come, offer them another date, and ask for names of those who might be interested in coming. Perhaps also you can post a flyer at school or at church if you attend one. Decide how you want to market your products in other ways too. If you are going to market online, and sell products over the internet, there are lots of inexpensive or free sites to advertise on. Keep in touch and let me know how you do. 3. At the party give your guest personalized pens with your company info on them. They are very inexpensive. Give it a try... Good Luck
4. try kijiji.com place an ad for local classifieds with your company name as header in the category you think fits best. in a few days your ad will be in the front page of google search for that category. use key words in your ad. also free flyers at clubflyers.com. your ad on one side theirs on the other. you pay shipping. very cheap and and effective. good luck.
