Tips to Marketing a Daycare Business?

I'd like to know what marketing techniques work best for a daycare business. If you have any tips, or know of resources where I can find great information on the topi, please feel free to respond. Thanks

  1. I would first design and print up a few flyer's and ask friends to hand them out at their jobs. Also consider having special rates for new customers. Maybe 2 wks free with 4 prepaid weeks. Offer longer hours and maybe a Saturday morning once a month(if possible). And try not to charge hourly or daily ... charge weekly, people seem to think they are saving more if they are given a flat rate rather than having to calculate a rate for a certain number of days.
  2. Tip number one: Don't call it Neverland Ranch
  3. Call Michael Jackson, he'll finance you!!!
  4. I like the response about flyers. I would put flyers up in places that Moms go to often like a local supermarket, etc. Also do you have a local circular (similar to a pennysaver) where you can advertise? Once you get a few people and they like you hopefully your name will spread by word of mouth. I took care of infants for awhile and my new parents were friends of the ones i had who liked me very much. So it's really just getting the first few that is hardest. Tell everyone you know and make sure to have very good references available. Best of luck.
  5. I would place ads in the HOA letters for neighborhoods around you. If there are areas newer than 5 years old near you concentrate on those neighborhoods, they have the most young kids.
  6. 1. Create a website and get it listed in LOCAL directories and search engines. There are many sites that list the daycare in a particular area, and you need to be in all their lists 2. Advertise or get listed in local parenting or family magazines. Some have an issue dedicated solely to business listings and you need to be there 3. Put up signs in the neighborhood during allowed times (mostly weekends) that a new daycare center will be open and accepting enrollments 4. Word of mouth is still the best. Parents talk to other parents asking for advice on what's the best daycare. 5. If there are local listservs or mailing groups for parents in your area, actively participate and become an integral and respected part of the community. The members are your target audience, and you need to show a good impression 6. Distribute flyers to where moms work or congregate. Check if you can put a flyer in local preschools. 7. Some pediatricians offer a cork board in the waiting where all sorts of ads are placed. If the doctors in your area have this, be sure to put a small flyer advertising your business.
