Marketing tips?
I am designing a website for my dad's plumbing company and we are also looking for other inexpensive and/or free ways to market his company. It is not a new company (he's been in business for 21 years) but he wants a way to boost customer base, both commercially and residentially. Other than free web ads and building a website, what other ways can he market his company? From a customer standpoint, what things do you like to hear when searching for a plumber or any contractor? And what things would be ideal to see on a plumber's website?

- Hi Rita - There are SO many stories about scammers out there. Looking for a plumber or other contractor can be scary, especially for single women. Here are my suggestions: -"Established in 1987." (this is REALLY important) -I'd want to see testimonials from actual customers (you wouldn't have to put their full names on the website - - something like "Joe's Plumbing is who we've called for 18 years, every time we need any work done! -Bobbi R." or "Joe is professional, reliable, and is always on time - he's a lifesaver! -Kim B.") - put at least one picture of your Dad on the site... a picture of him on the job, another pic of what he looked like when he first started the company, a current pic, a picture of his work truck, etc. People want to know who they're going to get. As for marketing his business, word of mouth generally works the best in this type of industry. You might consider offering a referral discount (for example: if a customer refers another NEW customer, they get $10 off their next visit), to encourage word of mouth advertising. I hope that helps! Good luck!
- personally I would do geo targeted ppc ads this is the best since the ads would be placed directly infront of potential people in need of plumbers searches are done everyday and having a spcific ads to that specific user can dramatically increase your or dad business
- Don't limit yourself to just a website - run local classified ads on Craigslist, Kijiji, write a blog, participate in Do-it-yourself forums locally, advertise in Home shows ( get a booth), Yellow Pages, brochures, Post Office bulk delivery of brochures, asking satisfied customers to refer their friends -plan a campaign. Most of the above is free, by the way or costs very little.
- My company we design about 3 - 4 websites a day both small and large. You need to do the following: Make sure all the pages are good quality content Have at least 200 - 600 words on each page You should have testimonials from past and present clients. Make sure you have sign up areas on your site and giveaway plumbing tips. This is just some of the things you can do, Check out this free ebook, this will give you plenty more ideas you can do. www.boostyourbusiness.com.au If you need a hand with the website design I would be happy to help. - Hi Rita. There are literally tonnes upon tonnes of advice out there on marketing tips on how to promote your website. The free ones are really not worth paying much attention to since the effort that is required to go into them compared with what you gain from them just does not make sense. I can say that with great confidence because I have been there, I have done that, I have tried that and it did not work. If you're really looking tried and tested, knowledgable marketing/Advertising tools, advise and techniques for your Dad's plumbing business that is guaranteed to work, then I would highly recommend Site-BUild-It or SBI for short. The URL is: http://buildit.sitesell.com/top_affiliate.html I have been involved in Internet market and for almost 10 years now. I have tried almost every legitimate conceivable type of marketing, many of which failed to deliver. I have spent hundreds of dollars but with very little results. I operated at a loss for years. Let's see, I did classified ads, search engine optimisation, pay-per-clicks, search engines submissions, paid search engine submissions, I purchased targeted visitors. I did Google Adsense. You name it, I did it. I even paid companies to promote by site. But then I heard about SBI and initially I was very skeptical about it. I felt that there was too much hype about this product and that it was just another scheme. There was no way this one product could possibly do all the things they say it could. But then I started checking it out. I listened to what they had to say, I looked at the videos, I researched the company cynically, hoping to find something bad about them so that I can say to myself, "see, I told you so." The interesting thing was I found nothing negative about them. That intrigued me some more and I started looking at quite a number of online sites that are using their technology. To my utter amazement they all seemed to be doing very well, and had very good ratings on Alexa.com. Eventually I decided to give them a try. I have not regretted it. SBI is the 'best thing since sliced bread' http://buildit.sitesell.com/top_affiliate.html If you really want to make money online, use Site-Build-It (SBI). If you really want a high return on your investment, use SBI. Their entire system and is based on creating a quality content that is highly optimised to attract targeted traffic to your site. They provide posting for your site. They provide all the tools that you need to build a successful site and a lucrative and money making online venture. No longer do you have to build your site, then find a web host for it, then fight up with promoting it. With SBI you get it all - everything you need to build a successful site. Now that I am using SBI, I have started to see my online business turn around, and it will continue to get better. I wish I had tried this earlier. You see, not only do they provide web hosting for your site, but the also and more importantly provide every single thing you need to run a profitable online business in a step by step format that makes it very easy to follow and very easy to succeed at. They have written as well as video tutorials, and a large community of helpers who are using the product and willing to help you in any way. That's why I love Site Build It. I really works for me. Can you imagine what it will do for you?
