Response Rate for Direct Marketing?
Does anyone have info on what might the response rate be on cooperative coupon direct mail marketing such as Money Mailer of ValPak for a food establishment, i.e. sandwich shop, catering, etc. Also, is giving away something Free or $5.00 off something a good marketing tip. Would the Visa/MC logo on my coupon increase response rate? Thanks so much for you time and help.

- I think the ValPak and such marketing is cost effective. I dont think you should give away free sandwiches but maybe a free upgrade, or offer a frequent user coupon.... something like that. Have a business card bowl and pick a business card once a week to get like five free sandwiches for the office or something like that. Look at your area and kind of market accordingly. If you work near offices then come up with good gimics for working suits, if you work in residental then come up with some gimincs that cater to working parents, or something.... I dont think the visa/mastercard logo is really going to helpbecause 95% of business accept credit cards, most people assume this is a given.
- i think 1 or 2 % is normal. free is the most powerful word in marketing. definitly want to give them something... look at highest margin item -- coke maybe -- and give it for free with purchase of a sandwich. i don't think visa/mc logo would make much of difference, most people expect this and would't come just because you do accept mc/visa. the most important thing in direct marketing is the list... with valpak and money mailer, target and area pretty close to your shop. also try different offers and test to see what works best... always track the response rate to see if it works.
- 1% to 3% that is about it. It increases with variable data printing to as much as 4.5%
