What do people who go to flea markets look for?

Ok so I just started selling at a local flea market some really cute and fashionable inventory that I bought wholesale. The prices are much lower that what people will pay at the mall or store but some people still thought it was pricey. Do they expect for stuff to be almost free? I did sell some stuff but not much it was my first day. Any advice or tips will be really appreciated! THANKS!

  1. Stuff at a flea market does tend to be almost free. For example, I have bought huge numbers of used toys for my kids for 25 or 50 cents each, which would have cost 10 or 20 dollars new. A flea market is generally not a place to make a profit. It's a place to get rid of stuff you don't want.
  2. Take a look at what other people are selling. Ask them what items are hot. Most of the time it is closeout discontinued items that are dirt cheap.
  3. Bargains. Something completely unique that's dirt cheap.

"you get what you pay for" people are not willing to shell out hard earned $ for things they just buy at the flea market. if they can haggle the products out for free, they will do it! i've never really seen anybody succeeding in the flea market business. it's just a very temporary source of income. you have to be very patient and creative, that means always reinventing your products you're selling all the time. but the bottom line is, you'll never become "rich" selling at the flea market. change your vehicle in order for you to see great scenery in your journey.   5. Sometimes people look for items to resell at flea markets or stuff they can't find elsewhere. People obviously are looking for deals or else they'd shop at the mall. A lot of people buy stuff at auctions or liquidation sales and they can sell it very cheap. Maybe if you go to a smaller area that doesn't have malls and sell there, if possible. Have a garage sale or sometimes local churches or organizations rent tables, the people there are often ones who aren't necessarily "regulars"

  8. most people just go out to get out and walk around.we had a brother in law into all that and they neer made money they got out of it before his wife divorced him and he got an hourly paying job to help pay the bills.He spent more on the junk he got to try and sell.
  9. They want a good buy. I always try to bargain with the seller. I want to find unique items that are not too costly. I also want a product that is a pretty decent quality. I don't buy things that are going to fall apart within a few days, even if it was an inexpensive flea market buy. Be friendly, try to draw the customers to your stand and be ready to bargain.
  10. No mater what you are asking some will try to get you to come down. I never buy at the asking price when I go. I like to barter. That's what it's all about. Raise your prices, then lower it "just for them." LOL. I've done that when selling. It's an art.
  11. You do not have to necessarily give your stuff away. The most important thing is to make sure that you are getting in touch with the people that want your product. For example, when I need shampoo I go to Wal-Mart, I try to get it when it is on sale . . . but if I knew that someone had it for cheaper at a Flea Market I would make the journey. My point. . . you might want to post an ad on a site like Craigslist or LiveDeal this way your product will get more exposure than just the visitors of the market. . . you will get another bunch of customers that you other ways might have missed.
  12. Weekends and holidays will be better. Most people just go to browse or find dirt cheap stuff. You will sell a lot more during a gift season (X-Mas, graduation, Valentine's)
