Any websites out there that does not charge for free secondary market research for a specific city?

Hi, I'm working on my marketing plan and I would like to find websites which offer free statistical information (secondary research is fine). For example, if a woman in Chicago earns 45k-60k a year, how much would she spend on dining out? I need this information for my target market.

1. Most free secondary research comes from databases like the Census data or government websites. Dependent on your topic, I would recommend contacting trade associations linked to that topic. In your example, you could reach out to restauranteer trade groups to get a ballpark number. The trade-off with secondary research is that you very rarely get an answer to a specific question. That is usually the domain of primary research models.
