To what extent should the government participate in the economy?

Basically, what are you in favor of? A free market economy or a planned economy? And why so? Why do you find it better then economic system you are opposing to?

1. everyone's in favor of mixture. Pure capitalism led to great depression. So you need government to intervene to smooth out cycles, regulate monopolies etc. Some government have less, some more.
