Home based businesses?

Everytime I consider getting involved in a home based business, I'm ovewhelmed with the mile-long advertisements that tell me nothing, but want my credit card info at the end. I end up giving up because my eyes can no longer focus And now I'm noticing tons of people right here on Y A advertising for which ever MLM they currently working with. I need some practical advice on which of these to consider. I don't expect to have to pay to join, or buy any particular products associated with the program in order to stay active. Thanks guys!
