If you were to just be beginning training in Network administration, which would you choose?

How is the LAN market in general....is it best to have studied/experience with microsoft suite of products, or some other?

1. before you start paying money for a lot of stuff, got to 'grc.com/security now' and listen to all of the mp3 files (1-96); this will give you invaluable ground work for much of what's needed when doing this kind of work.... steve & leo do a nice, easy to understand verbal rundown on CRITICAL issues and fixes, tips, etc.
2. Microsoft if the most widely used. Because of this you can find training fairly easily. once you get the information move over to Cisco. Following the CCNA, CCNP, CCIE tract. this will take some time and experience. But once complete this tract you can almost work anywhere in the world that you want to. The other route would be Network Security.
