Why are Singaporeans so skeptical of networking marketing?

I mean its a form of virtual franchising as well and the cost is much lower than opening a shop to retail products ya...

  1. They do not trust people they don't know.
  2. There's lots of that going on in there, so they learned their lesson
  3. Network marketers usually make it sounds too good to be true, and press the others to buy/join it, that freak them out, without giving them a chance to think carefully about it. It has pros & cons, the cons are network marketers are their own boss, and not everyone is good boss, some of them do it terribly (lack of management skills, leadership), so when the others look at them, they don't have any trust for the brand.
  4. the way people go about it...its just dodgy. and we're taught to be wary of these kinda things..
  5. I dislike network marketing a.k.a. multi-level marketing (MLM) - I find that the sellers (marketers) do alot of hard-selling or pressure selling. Even though they spend a lot of money to build the brand (eg. Nuskin), I find the products are very fad-dish and it gives me the feeling that the company is a fly-by-night operation.
  6. Too many people getting their Ass #@%$
