If you had the time to look - what would you choose.....?

... to do with your life? I'm talking about business - I really want to start my own business, but I'm not interested in anything where you're distributing other company's products, or pyramid schemes, or network marketing. And franchises cost too much money, and they take your earnings every month. I think that leaves me with either opening a shop or selling a service. I would like to work from home on flexible hours and earn the most I can out of an hour - Has anyone found a solution to enable you to be your own boss? I would appreciate any ideas you all have.... Oh - and it needs to be legal and moral by the way - no suggestions about "selling my services"!

4. how about an eBay store? electrical items and clothing sells really well. the problem of course it your outlay-you would need to work out costs of p&p where to buy the products, and at how much so you can make a profit. good luck with it though.
5. If I had a separate kitchen I'd make a go out of cake decorating - novelty cakes, wedding cakes etc. I've done a lot already but can't do anymore than one at a time as my kitchen is so small. Also I couldn't run a business from home so I'd have to have separate premises. I also like gardening and find myself very busy during the summer keeping gardens tidy (not just my own) but obviously in the winter there is no call for it really. You will have to exploit yourself - find something you have a talent for / interest in and make a business out of it.
6. Try renting a market stall. It's what my partner and I did when we were both unemployed for a while. We started selling second hand books - our own accumulated over two lifetimes - and ended up selling all sorts of things from printed t-shirts to watch batteries. We only did it for just over a year then went back to our regular careers. But we learnt a lot about business (and consumers). If Alan Sugar can become a millionaire after selling veggies from a market stall who knows what you can do? Maybe you'll become the C21st Marks and Sparks! PS. I'm told that there are government schemes that aid you in setting up small businesses like this. Ask at your local Jobcentre. Good luck.
7. Learn to make things like pots or teddy bears and sell them!
8. It depends on your skill-set really. I used to own a restaurant, and lived above it, so was technically working from home I suppose, although it never felt like it! If you have, or can lay your hands on, a reasonable sized property, you can go down the restaurant route, or a bed and breakfast maybe. Although both of these options rely heavily on location and involve unsociable hours. The ebay shop is a frequently touted idea, and works for a lot of people, but you would have to think hard about how you're going to source goods at a price thats low enough to enable you to sell them 'cheap' on ebay. If you have the motivation to get qualified in something first, there are plenty of consultancy/training opportunities. I have a friend who trains people on manual handling. Its so basic, yet companies need the training by law, and there aren't many people doing it, ergo big money. If you come up with anything let me know and maybe I can step off the gravy train and have a go myself!
