accounting skills and accounting software?

I work at a business bank and sell treasury products, but I want to learn more about accounting and accounting programs because I see a STRONG need for that in my industry. I am also thinking about becoming a Controller...they make $$ and I can screw with excel all day long (im pretty good with it). I have my bs in business but with marketing management (hence the sales), but I want to learn the MEAT and POTATOES of accounting and which applications are the best to thrust me forward in one of these great jobs. Please help! I guess I could get an mba in Finance but that just seems like too much???

I think , accpac, atlas, are the best. . but actualy accounting softwares are vary from one company to the other depending on the approach of the cycle they do,, but roughly the same, and if you are good in accounting you will be learing any accounting software very easily, just by seeing some examples.. its all like data-entry,, eventually . and how good are you in excel, do you know VBA?. . will if you are interested in excel,, I recommend using SPSS, you gonna get lots of $$,, by making analysis.. for companies.. anyway ,, best of luck
