Navigation System that works well in Europe and Australia?

I live in Australia, plan to go to Europe [Italy, Austria, Germany, France] and have researched the Navi Market and so far think that TomTom GO 720T Europe with TMC-Pro is the best for this region. However I cannot find any reference what to do with the thing here in Australia when I get back. Has anyone got experience with this situation, ie where can I get [and which] software to load on the thing so that it can be used also here?
