Why do Obama policies about free market contradict each other on his website?

On Obama website he states that he is for free maket “I believe that America's free market has been the engine of America's great progress. It's created a prosperity that is the envy of the world. It's led to a standard of living unmatched in history. And it has provided great rewards to the innovators and risk-takers who have made America a beacon for science, and technology, and discovery…" Now look at his other policies that hurt free market... 1.Protect Striking Workers: Obama supports the right of workers to bargain collectively and strike if necessary. He will work to ban the permanent replacement of striking workers, so workers can stand up for themselves without worrying about losing their livelihoods. 2.Ensure Freedom to Unionize: Obama believes that workers should have the freedom to choose whether to join a union without harassment or intimidation from their employers. How is any of this Free market?... companies can be held hostage by employees. Diane if the govt. is telling businesses they can not replace striking workers and they can not protect themselves from unions then the government is controlling those businesses and it is not a Free Market. The govt. is controlling them and it has everything to do with unions. I know this is a tough question for Obama supporters because as I said he contradicts himself on his on website but give it a try. Try to defend him. Please. COME ON OBAMA SUPPORTERS, DEFEND THIS MAN. THIS IS STRAIGHT FROM HIS WEBSITE. Come on show me the light. It has everything to do with unions our biggest companies that hold up the U.S. hate unions. FEDX, Wal Mart, Hilton, just to name a few. Obama said this stuff to get the union votes, chances are he is going to let them down.

  1. A free market is a market that doesn't have prices controlled or set by the government. Instead, prices are set by supply and demand. It doesn't have anything at all to do with unions.
  2. Well there you go. See? you are starting to understand the real Obama too.
  3. I agree with him. And that has nothing to do with a free market. We can have a free market. You seem to be against anyone bettering themselves. I believe in the right to work but before unions factories took advantage of people. McCain still wants to keep sending our jobs out of the country. McCain is either stupid, confused or the biggest liar ever. He changes his mind daily on where he stands on important issues. Just look at his voting record and compare it to what he is saying. He even voted against bills he cosponsored. Besides that by his own admission he cracked under pressure. I mean really, do you want a president who can't take the heat.
  4. Seems to me Obama contradicts everything he says or does. God Bless America and Her People! God Bless Our Brave Troops! "The invisible Money Power is working to control and enslave mankind. It financed Communism, Fascism, Marxism, and Socialism. All of these are directed to making the United States a member of World Government." -Unknown
  5. I don't see how a commitment to a free market economy has anything to do with unionization. I do think Obama's comment about workers' right to choose whether to join a union...." is self-serving. Obama says "workers should have the freedom to choose whether to join a union without harassment or intimidation from their employers." What about the harrassment and intimidation of workers by the unions wanting to enroll them? The "Right to Work" states have laws that prohibit unions from forcing workers to join their ranks. Unions oppose those laws. The unions claim that ALL workers benefit from the contracts they negotiate. Workers who do not join and do not have to pay dues question just how much they and their unionized colleagues benefit from the union-negotiated contracts and don't want to be required to pay dues that union leaders may use to support candidates or parties they do not want to support.
