How to promote a paranormal group....?
I am a member of a small paranormal investigation group....we take the approach of debunk it down to logic and if you can't debunk any further, call it unexplained....100% ouija board free....we are trying to promote our team. We want to get the word out to the community and let them know we are available to investigate homes, businesses, etc....BUT, we are not sure how to get our name out there. Please answer only if you have some ideas about a marketing approach, keep your ghosts aren't real opinions to yourself, we've heard them all, you will not come up with anything original in that department.....but if you have any ideas for marketing a hard to market subject please do. Keep in mind we do not charge ever for anything so there is no budget to work with. We need ideas that are free, cheap or at least minimal money involved.

- Hi, Just wondering where you are located? I build websites professionally and design brochures - flyers and business cards. I love ghost hunters - so get me interested in your project. I may surprise you. Thanks, Chris
- No "ghosts aren't real" comment here -- but I did want to say that I love the debunking approach. Perhaps the most cost-efficient and time-efficient way to promote the service your investigate group offers is Internet marketing, in this instance, really hitting social media and social networking sites. Does your group have a website? That is probably the first and most foremost question. Establishing your group's presence on the web is the first step. Then you can begin to propagate your group's name and site, grow in-bound links, and draw visitors in. In addition to social media marketing, you can also optimize your site for the search engines, to get a better position on the search engine results pages. Think of it this way: if a member of your local community has a problem with his or her home, if they feel menaced, if strange noises and shadows and events are happening in their home, how are they going to look for help? There isn't exactly a "Yellow Pages" listing for paranormal investigation. This is where the Internet comes in. Building your site, getting the word out, adding your group's base/office/headquarters on sites such as Google Maps and Yahoo Local, networking both on-line and offline with other paranormal groups or individuals with interest, can help to get the word out. Also, check with your area universities and colleges (unless your group comes from one!) to see if they have a paranormal studies or related program. Those can be a resource as well as another way of spreading the word. Speaking of colleges, there is also the old low-tech standby of posting flyers where possible, with tear-off strips with contact information, whether it be an email address, telephone number, or the website address. Lastly, home office / printing capabilities have vastly improved, so even with the use of a program like Microsoft Word (or, heck, using Google Docs) you can self-publish brochures that can be leave-behinds or take-aways. This can give prospective clients information on your group. Of course, networking is key here as you will need a local business or two to partner with you, allowing you to be able to leave that information on their premises. So, in short -- go for the Internet option for both the short and long term, and, if possible, augment those efforts with an offline approach with networking, flyers, and simple brochures. I hope this helps. Good luck with your efforts and stay safe with your investigations!
- Hi again, I left a message yesterday. What I was trying to say was that I would help with the marketing and build a website free. Just send an email with some brief info and how to contact you. I have a toll free number you can use to call me. Thanks, Chris
