Did/does Collins submarine software have built-in "network integration testing" ?

Benefits of a common test methodology Since the introduction of ISDN, it has become obvious that the integration of new networks and the diversity of their implementation represent a real challenge for the operators. Interoperability testing of new network technologies with legacy systems or alternative networks became increasingly costly and time consuming. In addition, the introduction of new, very complex and challenging services that required short time to market increased the pressure on the operators. It became obvious that manual testing or conformance testing alone was not sufficient anymore. What was urgently needed was a new methodology that enabled operators to run their tests in an automated way. Eurescom project P412 developed a new standardised test methodology that could readily be implemented by operators. This methodology was called Network Integration Testing (NIT), a terminology which has also been adopted by ETSI.

  1. A Shift from acquisition of new components to streamlining the system to a penultimate one person self operating system is the objective. Increase in inefficient and high maintenance personnel requiring vigilant supervision and constant reprimands is time consuming and demoralising for seniors able to apply their creative expertise towards creation of new software towards increase in profit and environment than being grounded in supervisory personnel disciplinary actions. A glaring lack of progress in any line of programme is the outcome of operative labouring to control subversive factors hindering and impeding intellectual property growth. Autonomy requires a supreme confidence and a greater eye view and consciousness to enable the separation of attachments and the initiative towards detached observance of operations than an integration causing focus to slip from corporate success to personal gain.
