What is the UK legal market like? Is getting a job as a lawyer in the UK difficult?

I have recently been accepted into a good UK law school; it is ranked within the top 10 schools, and has ties to solid firms. How difficult is it to land a job as first year associate? What is the pay like? Here is the catch, I'm not a UK citizen, but I would like to work/practice there, with the possibility of staying; how does this factor into the equation?! Thanks for any help/advice!
