What's the difference between network marketing and running your own business?

Whats the difference between network marketing and running your own business? Network marketing is where you pay money to sell someone else's product while they make a profit and you support the business during start up and then get cut out of the growth when it happens. Running your own business means buying stock, advertising your product, covering your expenses and overheads and above all making a profit. There is a unique business opportunity to promote and sell a complete range of grooming, fun and fashion products for men. You have no cash outlay apart from your stock which is provided on credit at wholesale prices. So you can accurately calculate how much you need to make to turn a profit. As you choose your method of sales you can have anything from a retail shop to regular house parties. You are given full training and thanks to the web site you can make money while you sleep. All advertising, web and phone support and brand marketing is done for you just like a franchise but without the cost. If you're serious about not wanting a boss and being the master.mistress of your own destiny get back to me and I'll tell you all about it. Is this a good opportunity? The opportunity i have been offered is a range of mens grooming products, fun and adult items and fashion. The idea is that I buy the stock on credit from the supplier. I sell under licence in any way I like. All my customers are given a unique ID and from then on every time they purchase even from the web site, I get paid. Unlike Ann Summers and Avon a customer can only buy from the site with a unique id. If a customer registers they are sent an id and the nearest distributor is sent the details to make contact. It seems like a fantastic idea and the product and back up seems excellent. It's UK based and the start up credit line is £500 All excellent points. Selling other companies products. McDonald's, Bargain Booze, Tesco? Company sustainability Avon is over 130 years old but I remember my mum asking the same question. Know your product. Absolutely spot on. I don't know male grooming but I do know about my product and this company provide it. NM is a great way to advertise any business and if you know a market but only have a small amount of time you can using this company. Once my customers are registered I make on everything they buy.. The idea is simple and effective and it's aimed directly at men, also simple if not always effective. and the rep numbers are restricted to 1000 nationally so it wont get swamped either. We all know about something but to start a business is difficult and expensive. This is a ready made supplier of a whole range of grooming, adult, fun and fashion. The grooming range is 'the in' the the site sells everything else for you. And the advertising will be done for you. There are lots of NM opportunities but they aren't real businesses are they? This is a real business you can grow yourself. You can expand your range of goods and you can build your business around your own experience and expertise. When I set up my first business I needed £5,000 before i opened the door and that was over 10 years ago it's probably closer to £20,000 now. I have immediate access to £1,500 of stock, a full web site and a range and diversity of products that is growing all the time and that I could never hope to supply from my own resources. This has got to be the best £1,000 I have ever spent. Victor can you please email me? Cheers

  1. no network marketing sucks. Read the statistics how many people fail against how many succeed. Its around 98% of all networking marketing businesses. And then find out how many of the those businesses will stil be around in the next 5 years. no matter how hard you work you will always be reliant on others to do the same. Most of the products are never as good as you are led to believe, and very few, and I mean very few actually make money. you have been warned.
  2. Running your own business means just that -- YOUR OWN BUSINESS. What you are describing is again a dime a dozen available out there, developing someone else's business not yours. And what if this company is not around anymore in just 2 years or so. Many aren't. What happens to "your" business then? The very own business is build around your interests, knowledge, hobbies and talents. With products and services you personally select, without any need to buy, where you dedicate all your efforts toward marketing. You do not need nor you have to warehouse, store, ship, deliver nor invoice anybody. The very best then is a combination of suppliers with affiliate programs, direct sales on commission basis and carefully selected Network Marketing company where you will take advantage of leverage. With diversification like this, you are truly in control of your business and if any of your suppliers drops out, only a part of your income disappears with them, not your whole business.
  3. Enigma, you have brought up some great points. I must agree with Stan The Man. His points are spot on. There are many differences between the two. Both have potential through acquired skill. There are some minor flaws in your statements. Training and websites provided by the company do not create success alone. All advertising, web and phone support is not all done for you. In network marketing, you are the advertising and . customer support. Yes they do have customer support too. However, you are the first point of contact and it is your job to keep them coming back. Websites that are provided by the company and are replicated do not do the dist/rep any justice. They do not get any natural traffic from the search engines. If you pay to drive traffic to a replicated site, the conversion rates are next to null. Networking is more about building trust and forming relationships. People don't want a boss yet, they don't want to be sold either. Network marketing IS a good opportunity ONLY if you have an understanding for the industry. Many who will join will never gain an understanding. One thing to keep in mind. The owner(s) of the network marketing company will always make more money then the distributors. The owner is exercising a higher form of leverage to build his/her business. They have chosen to market their business using you as the tool. I don't bring this up to scrutinize network marketing. I say this from experience. I have had far greater success through learning to target market. Just as Stan stated. You are at some risk putting all your business into one company which changes can have an impact on your business. There are great ways to build multiple streams of income around your interests. Your network marketing opportunity should just be a piece of the pie in my opinion. BEST WISHES!
  4. As stated by you and others through their answers, there are many differences. Some both positive and negative. To fully understand the positives of the business you choose to operate, you must become educated in the specifics of the business model. So as you choose network marketing as your model, it is very important and necessary for success to know the complete operation of the industry and the specifics of the company you choose to operate under. I would be happy to share some tips and links to industry facts that are both positive and negative. Knowing the negatives of the industry is equally as important as the positives. Best Regards!

  6. I would prefer network marketing with a good consumable. I am in the telecom and energy business. The start up fee is £199.75 and is fully refundable on signing just 12 customers within 90 days. We get 5% of the customer spend every month. Just about 100 customers get you £500 to £750 paid montly forever. You can even choose to build a team. I am aware of the rate of failure in network marketing but you can never go wrong with some extra income even if it is £100 paid to you forever! 7. The opportunity looks god...but so does any network marketing opportunity from the outside. What you need to be asking is if you have the ability to create a strong network that will be passionate about growing the business for you. That's where the recurring income comes from. However, network marketing companies don't comment much on that saying it depends on the individual. What you need is a good lead generation technique or a company that provides you with this. This can be used in conjunction with any business you may have to generate customers on the move. I am trying out http://www.spider-web-system.com at the moment and seems to be working okay. Not sure if you can work this with your business plan but worth trying I would say. Hope this helps.
