Email Marketing. Which is best? to buy software and install or use third party company?
Hello People I just started small online business. One way of getting in touch and offer the service to my customers/ subscribers is to send them emails each week. I would like to know which is the best way for cost effective in email marketing. Is it best to buy email marketing software and install on my system or use the third party company where I would have to pay monthly. What I see is that email marketing software range from £200+ and third party companies range from £10 for about 500 email/month. Yet I don't see any reason to pay monthly to get limited email sending why not buy software install and send as many as I want with no rising monthly cost. Does anyone knows the down side of buying email marketing software compared to use third part companies. Regards Cyberfx

- It seems that with your own software, you can save more money and you control the whole email marketing process The problems with a software vis a vis a third party system are: - your ISP may limit the number of emails you send per hour. To prevent spamming, most ISPs have limits in the number of emails you can send (typically 100 per hour) unless you have a business account. If you've got 80,000 emails to send and you have a limit of 100 per hour, it will take you 800 hours to send 1 email. Not worth it - your account can be put in the blacklist. If there are spam complaints against you, it will be YOUR IP address that will be banned. That means you will have a tough time sending your regular emails if you are put in a blacklist. With third party softwares such as ConstantContact.com, it is their IP address that shows. If you've got only 100-1000 names, having your own software is ok. But if you've got more subscribers, it makes more sense to go with a third party email marketing solution
- If you run your own software, your ISP will most likely close your account due to the volume of email you're sending. They have strict limits on that. Additionally, much of your mail will not go through compared to a trusted 3rd party link Constant Contact.
