What are some good free marketing ideas?
I have a small business and the paper is too much $$ plus I don't see the results I want. I use craigslist as well. I own a self serve dog wash. I also have signs around dog walking spots and animal hospitals,,, the obvious stuff! Thanks

- Good for you-your own business!! Here are my suggestions: 1) Go to Bark Parks-dog parks and hand out flyers or magnets w/ your info. 2) Go online and order either dog leashes/small bars of dog soap w/ you info on it. 3) Put your info on the back window of your car-simple pic with your #phone. ( As well as the magnetic signs for side of car) 4) Ask your friends/family members to put signs on their cars. 5) Go to a Petsmart/PetCO or other pet store and cross market with them. Ask if you can leave a container with your sign and info and say you are have a monthly raffle-have people drop in their bus. cards or info. Use all the info in the container to send flyers and special offers to. GOOD LUCK!
- I agree with the answer above. Great tips ... not all free, but very worthwhile ideas. A resource for your car lettering would be: http://www.greatlettering.com You do it yourself and save a ton. It's easy. Good luck!
- >> I own a self serve dog wash. ok, well, I'm not even sure why someone would use it...new customers would be skeptical...I'd perhaps have an open house somehow and do a cross market with the spca...I mean how many dogs are there close enough to use your service?...that's a number you should really know well. I don't at all think that 'buck-shot' advertising in the paper will ever work. What I would do is have a some free obedience training for folks who buy mutil-use passes...I'd combine the service with other services... vet... training...walking.... ... I would even offer free pickup and delivery. ... and, if possible...I'd do it at their residence...maybe a setup in the back of an open trailer... I'd even hook up with a car wash... they get a deluxe wash, we'll wash the dog too... I'd consider getting local high school kids to do that as a fund raiser. Enough? ==================================== p.s., Signs on cars will do practically nothing...but!...if you have a spinning sign on the top of your car and park it at a high visibility spot at a busy parking lot you might get people coming up and asking...I'd try that (but you have to shop to be fair...one person in the store shopping...you just can't use a private lot to advertise your business).
- Just curious, what are your prices? Word of mouth is the best advertising!
