I saw an infomercial that sold software which informs you when to buy/sell stock. What's the name of it?

I currently have a money market account and a 401K plan, but I would personally like to make my money work of me. I would like to begin dealing in stocks but I have no background in finance or trading. To those of you who have already purchased the software/product, was it helpful? What is our experience? Is there a better device or service out there that can help me? Thank you in advance for your help! - Yolie-

  1. If the software was any good, why wouldn't the seller just make his fortune in the stock market instead of hawking crap on an infomercial.
  2. Most of these automatic programs have some kind of disclaimer that says their claims are based on hypothetical trading of historical data. Meaning: nobody has actually used the programs to trade real money and make the profits described. There isn't a shortcut. You have to do your homework. Remember: whenever you buy a stock, there is somebody on the other side of the trade who has decided to sell it.
  3. Water house has programs like that free when you use their service,
  4. Teach me to trade holds a school on tmtt.com ( this is VERY expesive ) Invest tools also holds school ... and is more al-a-carte ... investools.com
  5. You can invest/manage your 401K, in a self-directed account. I have completed what you would like to do, however it has taken me three years of studying and taking courses. After research and finding actual people in my own community that are successful day traders, I have a strategy that requires about an hour and a half a day, and software that costs $59 per month. I've entered and left the market many times, of course at a cost of $7 per trade, but I've lost not one dime of my original amount, paid for my trades and learned a great deal. There is a user group in my area of people like myself, that have the software and are successful traders. There are many scammers out there trying to sell their product, so be careful. I use VectorVest software...it's great and does the work for you. You can get it free for several weeks and their VVest University is great. Good luck....it's been a great way to keep busy in retirement.
