Why did the UK embassy reject my Work Visa application?

I'm a recent college graduate from the U.S. and through networking with family/friends I landed an opportunity to work in Reading, UK for a computer networking company. I have a business background and have worked in sales as well as an office assistant job. After months of waiting, the UK embassy rejected my work permit application. The embassy wrote: "Under the work experience aspect of the TWES, the individual should be additional to the employer's normal staffing requirements. They should not be essential to the operation of the organisation, or filling a position that would otherwise be available to a UK/EEA national. From the information provided with your application it appears that Mr. ***** is needed by your company to work with your sales and marketing executives and train your sales team. Finally it is stated your company wishes to utilise his expertise an knowledge of US businesses. Consequently, we have been unable to approve this application as outlined above." That being said, What's the best way to to appeal this rejection letter? any comments, or thoughts are appreciated.

  1. The problem is that your prospective employer has not demonstrated that you have skills that UK/EEA citizens would not have. If you want to re-apply, you need to make sure that the letter from any employer is worded such that it makes clear why you have special talents that are not to be found locally. A lawyer specializing on employment related issues should be able to provide help in doing this.
