How and where would I be able to find cheap or ideally free marketing advice?
I am researching a new business model and would like help trying to find out how many potential clients would be interested in my health and safety training services. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

- This website is really useful. http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/layer?topicId=1073861169&r.lc=en&r.s=tl Good luck.
- A really good book to buy on the subject is written by David Jobber and is called 'Principles and Practice of Marketing'. You ideally want the fifth edition - it's laid out really well and tells you everything you need to know if you're thinking about marketing!
- OHHH this is not a new idea. There are people that went to college to be Certified Industrial Hygienists and they make killer money. It is a great idea and there are tons of companies that could use your services. You could check with construction companies, manufacturing plants, chemical plants, the list is really endless. Also you can do market research on your own. You could go to the Local.com and pull up companies by typing in Health and Safety Training Services and see how many companies are in your area.
- As has already been suggested, Business Link is one of your best sources of free help and advice. The other place to try is your local Chamber of Commerce. They have a comprehensive collection of information that can be used for market research. Turn your thinking round about how many potential clients would be interested in your H&S training service. Think about who you're providing it for and how you'll find them. Why should they use you compared with the others in the same market? Once you have those answers, you go after your target market. By giving them compelling reasons to use you over anyone else, you'll have as many clients as you want. Business Link has very good information on conducting market research and on putting together your marketing plan. Good luck!
