  1. What Tupperware does is Multi Level Marketing.. and yes that's one hundred percent legal.. If you're asking whether those companies that tell you to get say two or three more people to invest along with you and after the chain grows you'll make a lot of money, that's not multi-level marketing. And while it's absolutely legal if the company is legitimate, you definitely run a heavy risk.
  2. Yes it is legal. Amway is the most well known company using this method, they've been doing it internationally for decades. If you're thinking about getting involved in MLM do be aware that only a tiny percent of people who join up actually make anything worth while out of it. Most people get suckered into going to motivational seminars, buying books and CDs but make little profit. It generally takes a couple of extremely highly motivated people to make a success of it, it can push you to emotional limits frequently being rejected. Many years ago I got involved with Amway, it all looked good at the start but as time went on I became aware that the whole network was built on ignorance. People got in thinking it was an awesome business opportunity and eventually reality set in and most dropped out, and so the cycle continues. To anyone thinking of going down the MLM path, I would say, if your not a highly motivated sales person type then simply dont waste your time. I dont mean to rain on your parade but the reality is that MLM relies on a high turnover of distributors to keep the handfull of successful distributors profitable.
  3. Check out this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-level_marketing It could help you..
  4. It's 100% legal. The reason you so many complain about is that you actually have to work in order to make some big money. The potential is there if you really push for it. There are thousands of MLM companies with thousands of products. I can't say what would really be a good idea for you. It's something you have to believe in since you're promoting it. I joined during the pre-launch of the first ever adult web site/MLM company in the world, which launched March 02. We have no competition and are a global company. The best part is adult entertainment is a service so there are no products to sell. I've made money every month. There are no start up packages that cost $500, no training package that costs another $400 plus other hidden fees as with so many other MLM companies. Watch out you could spend well over $1000 before you ever make a dime. If you're interested take a look at www.opportunityknocksusa.com for more info.
