Should those of us who believe in the free market start calling ourselves "liberals" again?

Afterall, aren't those who believe in big government now the "conservatives." Is not big government the status quo? Aren't the ideas of limited government and the free market now the radical opposition fighting against the advocates of the big government status quo? In fact, the term "liberal" originally referred to an advocate of the free market and only began to refer to moderate socialists in the 1930s. Why not reclaim it and make it clear that we are opposed to the conservative Obama and Bush regimes with their reckless spending and unprecedented increases in the size of government?

  1. wrong
  2. Unfortunately such (correct) use of term "liberal" is impossible. I use the term "liberal" as substitution of spit.
  3. I see your point. It wasn't long ago that conservativism and liberalism platformed for different ideas.
