The United States is ranked #37 for health Care?

The World Health Organization studied every health care system in the world and rated the US # 37! The top ranking went to France. The French insurance system covers every single resident of France with excellent health results! No in-network or pre-authorization crap, You pick any doctor or hospital and the insurance has to pay the bill. This is for all the people in France. Canada has private providers but public financing. Everybody pays a premium to a single health insurer - the government. This makes it easier to control costs. Mind you, they are only paying 1/3 of what we pay. They are like France, you can choose your doctor, clinic, etc. Our screwed up system is so expensive and inefficient that we can't even afford it! The Institute of Medicine says about 18,000 Americans die each year because they can't get the medical treatment that would save their lives. The US Drug companies spend more money on marketing than they do on research. One pill made in the same factory costs $1 in the US and $.20 cents in Britain! What the hell is going on? The info is out there. Why the hell aren't we getting health insurance like the other countries? Kathyisanurse- the writer is a Washington Post correspondent. Everything in the article is true. Arcanum70- You base your opinion on an opinion from a trucking company? LOL! Sorry, that won't change the fact the US doesn't have Universal Coverage! You can't please everyone! Only the thousands of insurance companies don't want it. They are the only ones to profit!

  1. Hmm..interesting. Nice time to be French. We're also in huge debt.. So what's with the bailout??? ha..
  2. Before you get too carried away, check out the criteria the WHO used to make that judgment. They were VERY biased towards universal health care and their criteria reflected that bias.
  3. You don't talk to many Canadians or French people do you? I drive a truck for a living and am leased to a Canadian company (I live in the United States). Every one of them, from the couple that owns the company to their employees hate their health system, the jacked up taxes to pay for it and come here for decent care and even to buy vitamins because the vitamins they sell there are "watered down" per the governments orders.
  4. There are also 42 countries that have a lower infant mortality rate than the US. The ones with higher mortality rates are mostly third-world countries. People are not only avoiding the immediate care they need, they are avoiding the preventative care that would save thousands of lives, all because they can't afford it. We are the only industrialized nation in the world that does not guarantee health care to its citizens. The health care industry and their lobbyists are very powerful in this country. It's really quite pathetic.
  5. If it works in other countries we should have something like that here. You aren't going to please everybody but it sounds like those countries are doing something right. For some reason, as rich as we are, we suck at universal health care. It's cheaper in the other countries?
