what are effective ways to gather leads for online business?

what are some effective ways to gain leads for my online business. I'm doing this network marketing thing with this wireless company that pays you to gather customers and teach others how to do the same, I don't have to many warm market leads(friends & family) so I have to resort to getting cold market leads(people you haven't met) But I'm not sure if approaching random people at a mall is exactly effective, so whats the best approach, also if your interested in knowing more about what I'm doing please send me a email because I can't advertise on here without getting my question deleted, but I will appreciate if you check out my website, just send me a email and I'll direct you to my website.
