Why didn't GM and others scream "FREE MARKET!" when they were about to go out of business? Why...?
Well met. Doesn't it seem that corporate and imperialist apologists are just tools of the ruling class and power elite?

- Because a corporation won't give up a legal advantage when it is offered to them. Are you asking why didn't they act stupidly? When the government offers to give you free money, do you say no? And for your last statement, life is not a conspiracy.
- They were told by our socialist president what to do, that is why.
- Ford Refused the money. I wish GM and Chrysler did not take the bailout money too, but they did and they still went bankrupt.
- GM didn't scream "free market" because businesses are notoriously anti-free market when it comes to their own industry. In other words, businesses want to enjoy the lower costs from OTHER industries that are associated with intense competition of free markets, yet they want their own industry to be shielded from competitive pressures - for obvious reasons. But realize that this is simply companies acting rationally in their own self interest. Of course they will pursue benefits and advantages from any legal (and some times illegal) source. and of course politicians are going to act in THEIR own self interest, continuing to buy votes. That is why it is the voters responsibility to be diligent in policing this type of government interference. Yet, people are so divided politically that many are willing to accept these actions because "their party" is in control and needs to be defended. Meanwhile, the government continues appeasing ALL special interests - not just corporations - using our and our grandchildren's money. Regarding "others", almost everyone outside of the government were screaming "free market" and "let them fail" - where were you?
