How long have the Knicks been planning to jump into the big 2010 free agent market?
Lebron,DWade,Chris Bosh and others. The Knicks will have millions in cap space. That should land them Lebron and one other player. If people in Cleveland thinks Lebron won't look into this your wrong. If he wanted to stay in Cleveland then why wait till 2010.Why not sign a contract in Cleveland now and stop all the rumors!

- they been planning this since early alst season. but i really think hes gonna go to the brooklyn nets
- I agree, although i think that cleveland is a much mroe stable environment for him. He has a management that is devoted to him one hundred percent, just traded for shaq, he obviously likes his teamates, and everyone knows he is the man. THe hometown hero also helps lebrons marketing, which is very appealing and important to him as of now. But the knicks have had this in mind since they traded randolph and crawford away and bought out marbury. THey have been preparing for this and meanwhile have build a young core of the talented wilson chandler, and david lee, who is probably going to be resigned, to compliment whoever they aquire, plus their draft pick, possibly stephan curry. Hope i helped, lebron will look, but unless cleveland really explodes this season, every thing has lined up for him their.
- If he was smart he'd go to Europe and make 20 million a year.
- He's waiting to see if he can win a championship, or to keep his name even more dominate in the media. In 2010, if he's playing in the NBA to make lots of cash he'll go to the Knicks, if he really just wants to win championships, he'll resign with the Cavs. To answer the second part, the Knicks haven't signed him because it's actually against the NBA rules for a team to even enter into discussion of that sort with a player currently employed by another team. They can't sign him until he officially is a free agent. Thanks and I hope this helps.
- Well, they've cleared a ton of cap space so they've been planning this for a while. I'm not so sure they'll land LeBron.
- The Knicks have been planning this for a couple of years. You're right, they'll have plenty of cap room to make a run at some of the premier free agents. The Knicks big problem will be convincing those free agents that the Knicks can be serious contenders, when their management has screwed up just about everything they've touched in the past 10 years. As for LeBron.. why would he want to stop all the rumors? Why would he want the spotlight off of him? Even if he's 99% sure he wants to return to the Cavs, why lock himself into a contract now if he doesn't have to? The only upside to LeBron signing with the Cavs now is that he'd have his money guaranteed, in case he suffers some catastrophic injury. By waiting, he stays flexible in case his situation changes, and he keeps the 2010 free agent spotlight firmly focused on him. The other thing I found out a couple of days ago is that if LeBron does become an unrestricted free agent, he can negotiate new clauses into his contract that he can't do with a simple extension. He can demand a no-trade clause, a nice fat trade kicker, and other considerations. You can't add those if you're extending an existing contract, but you can put them into a new one.
- They have been making cap space for about 3 years .................
