Is vector marketing legit?

Its part of a parent company called Cutco; they sell kitchen knives. This is a direct market company, they recruit young, college age ppl and get them to sell their products. I know I am young and probably dumb, but I think that a company should never ever ask you for money once they have hired u(they ask for $143 for a "safety deposit" on the sample kit you need in order to do their work). I literally just walked out of their little interview thing. Do you guys agree?

  1. I think you did the right thing. If you continued, you would likely end up owning the knives, because they will NOT take them back. I know several friends that tried, only to end up disillusioned and poorer, but surprisingly not a lot wiser! At least they have the bragging rights to owning a set of knives worth $50 at Costco that they paid $140 for.
  2. You did the right thing. And had you conducted a search query at google.com for "Vector Marketing" scam, you would have discovered some 60,000 search results which simply state: "It's a scam!" Good luck!
  3. Vector hires 100% of all people who apply. That is your first tip-off. They promise $16 an hour wages. No one gets $16 an hour at Vector. You will be selling $700 sets of Cutco knives to your neighbors. That was tough in good times; now it is impossible. The same knives (or better) can be purchased in a department store for $90. You have to buy the "demo" set of knives. That is where the scam is. Vector hires 10,000 salesmen a month. Each one must spend $143. They don't care if you ever sell a set of knives. They have already made their profit. That demo set cost them $12. This is the heart of the scam. To make it worse, Vector does not pay you if you do sell some knives. They are the worst of the worst when it comes to scam outfits.
