I want to start a new political party, how do i do it ?

I would like to do this in the U.K and would like to know every thing that i need to know to start this up. I want to form a new national political party, but I would like some additional information before I dive into the process. A few items that could help me out: 1. What "red tape" must I go through to form this party? More specifically, will I need to register with any federal or state agency(s)? Keep in mind that I will be soliciting (via email, direct mail, and telephone) donations for the party. It might be a relavant fact in answering this question that the party's headquarters will initially be located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It will, however, be a national party. Along the same lines of this question, do I need to register as a not-for-profit organization? How? Basically, this question is an attempt to find out what (if any) forms and registrations I need to complete to form a national political party. Please spend the most amount of time on this question because if we as a party do something wrong here we could be breaking the law! I'd hate for the party to fall apart or be sued because we forgot to fill out some random form. 2. On the issue of donations, what are my options for people submitting donations online? What are the best payment service providers on the Internet. I know of PayPal, but are there others that might be better for this particular purpose of political contributions? 3. On that same note, I am preparing an initial e-mail that will be introducing the party and seeking contributions to get the party going. How can I get this email to a large (1mil or more), nationwide group of people? Of course, I'll be sending the email to everyone in my address book, and hopeful that they'll do the same, so on and so on, creating a snowball effect. But, is there also a way to get (or buy) lists of random email addresses that it would be legal to send out an email such as this to? I've looked on the internet, and it appears that one can buy such a thing of lists where people have opted in ... so, what service should I go through to buy this list of email addresses. Which service is the best? Things to consider: I want the email read, not sent directly to people's junk mail box. I want the email sent to as many people as possible up front and then just hope our ideas create a snowball affect. 4. Who should I get to build the party's website, which I hope will be state-of-the art? More specifically, what firms are rated highest in web development? 5. What are some of the top-notch marketing firms that could help in "branding" the party? Here, we're lookign for top-rated firms that specialize in political campaigns. Answers to the questions above would certainly be helpful. However, please feel free to throw any any other information/advice/tips that might be helpful in forming a political party. By no means limit yourself to the specific questions above, because Any and all information on the issue of "forming a political party" would be a great help. I would like to do this in the U.K and would like to know every thing that i need to know to start this up. Can any one help me ?????

  1. Forget it .No matter what you have heard the British public would not be interested in you.The essence of British politics is voting in local residents as councillors then if they do well voting for them again as members of parliament. Its NOT about donating money to some foreigner with delusions of grandeur.
  2. No don't do it. What you should do is start an action group that is anti labour and conservative. Then at least you have won if both of the parties are not elected. You have no chance of getting elected.
  3. First, I would suggest talking to people and making sure that you would actually get support before you start spending money. 1.You have to register any new political party with the electoral commission (http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/guidance/candidates-agents/parties). 2. PayPal would be your best bet, but remember you have to provide evidence of any donations to the electoral commission, so you need a system that will let you keep these details. 3. To be honest, the services where you buy people's email addresses are probably not the best bet - most people will delete anything that comes from someone they do not know. Perhaps you should try using facebook to gather support, and send out messages that way, or something. Another way is the old-fashioned one of going out into your town and canvassing support. As a new political party, you couldn't put up candidates across the country - for one it would be far too expensive. It's best to start locally, and so instead of emailing people randomly, going out and talking to them always gives a better impression, and targets the people who will be voting locally. 4/5. As a new party you won't have masses of money, and you shouldn't look at national campaigns for a while yet. You will be very much restricted by money, and so looking for the best web designer or advertising company should not really be a priority. There are a lot of parties in the UK already, you need to make sure you can get support before you start spending money on registering, putting up candidates, advertising campaigns etc. There is already a lot of choice, so make sure you are something different/new, or you will just become another one of the many small parties that no-one ever votes for because they offer the same as the big parties.
  4. It's a very expensive process that takes years and years to put into practice. You really think you're ready? I don't think so or you'd know already what is necessary to move forward. Sorry but you have almost no chance of success.
  5. the most recently formed political party in Britain to have attained office is the Labour Party, first elected in 1920. Read the memoirs of Kier Hardy. power to the people.
