Do you need to be legally recognized as a business in order to sell used clothing on an online website?

My sister and I want to sell our old clothing on a free website online. (We'll take care of the marketing around our college campuses.) Are there legal issues we should be aware of? Do we need a business license or some kind of selling certificate? Do we have to pay/charge tax? We have no plans to have our business name trademarked yet. Personal experience would be awesome.
