whats is the plus and minus of the mushrooming (MLM)network marketing business?

  1. Too many to list, however, here are my thoughts. Very few MLM companies are successful. About 10-15% actually become successful, long term companies (Amway, Mona Vie, Avon) and even in those companies, 20% of the salespeople are making 80% of the commissions. So, unless you are really good (or lucky) at picking an MLM and on top of that, you are a good salesperson with that company (and depending on what point you entered the pyramid), your chances of success are less than 1%. You are better off trying to start your own business or partnering with someone who has an idea.
  2. Plus 1. Low startup cost. 2. Simple, duplicatable franchise type system. 3. Leverage. 4. Possible tax advantages 5. Personal develpment Minus 1. Many people don't understand or are misinformed about the industry so they are not willing to buy products or join the company. 2. A lot of scams and well meaning companies that never get off the ground and go out of business. 3. Since the cost of entry is so low and people don't have to give up their day job it's easy for people to not commit and actively build the business or take it seriously and use the system in place. Which is the reason that, as the previous answer stated, 20% of distributors make 80% of the money. If you are considering MLM and would like an evaluation of the companies you are considering or would like suggestions on companies to look into just email me.
