What is your opinion on the economic boost through legalization (Amnesty)?

and why haven't we legalized them yet? Legalization Would Boost Economy During Recession Legalization increases short-term incomes, job creating consumption and net tax revenues in the low wage segments of the labor market, as well as sets the long-term foundation for an expanding middle class and a more sustainable economic recovery. If Congress and President Obama legalized the current 10-12 million undocumented persons in the U.S. an economic stimulus of $30-36 billion in personal income, 750,000-900,000 new jobs, and $4.5 to $5.4 billion in net tax revenue would result! Movement now towards legalization and naturalization of the roughly twenty million legal permanent residents and undocumented persons would create local and state regional mini-booms in civic engagement. Legalization of the nation’s undocumented workers will provide a strong economic stimulus, and must be integrated as a necessary component of President Obama’s economic recovery strategy. Failure to do so would actually prove detrimental to faster and long lasting economic recovery. Legalization also has the virtue of combining moral and civil rights imperatives with society-wide economic benefits, strengthening the most vulnerable and exploitable low-wage segment of the labor market, and establishing the basis for both a more sustainable economic recovery. In other words, legalizing the current estimate of 10-12 million undocumented workers would result in a net income rise of $30-36 billion, support 750,000-900,000 new jobs, and generate $4.5 to $5.4 billion in net tax revenue! 1. Why not just kick them out, then Americans can take their jobs and they can stop suckling on the government nipple. That should boost the AMERICAN economy.
  2. great facts! we haven't legalized them yet because It'll make Obama look good, and that's the last thing Republicans want. These Republicans are the ones the put us in this recession, and now they want to keep us from getting out of it.
  3. I would rather tough it out longer than reward someone for coming here illegally. Criminal activity should not be rewarded.
  4. 10-12 million ILLEGAL immigrants is far too low. Unfortunately, the number is almost doubled. How would that be fair to the MILLIONS of immigrants who came to the US "for a better life" through the NORMAL and LEGAL process??? It wouldn't. It would be a slap in the face of every American citizen and every immigrant who came here legally!! Was it easy for those immigrants to come to the US? No, but they still went through the proper and correct channels. That is the issue!! We have laws in place that illegals are KNOWINGLY over-looking and thereby disrespecting America, American citizens and the American way of life. Jobs should not be taken away from American citizens and given to illegals. How is that good for the economy??? How does illegals sending money back to their home country help the economy?? One person's blog does not provide true facts on the situation. Do some more research and you will see how illegals are increasing crime rates, hurting the economy, stealing jobs from American Citizens, not paying ALL taxes, putting a financial burden on our schools and hospitals, etc. etc.
  5. A new amnesty would result in a negative drain on the US economy. It fits directly in to the CLOWARD-PIVEN Strategy. Just because an individual is suddenly a "legal citizen" does not mean that they will instantly make more money, or move to a better job, freeing that slot up for someone else. The facts are that they will remain in their current jobs for some time. they will not radically increase their income and therefore qualify for all the tax breaks built into our tax code. In other words, they will still not pay taxes. Because they are "legal" that will set the stage for any increased money they make here to go overseas to support others elsewhere. The economic gains from consumer spending will be subdued because of this. Any increased money enable the next group of illegals to flood in and wait for the next amnesty to suddenly negate their criminal conduct in violating our national sovereignty. The average income of the new "legal" citizen will not increase much, and therefore they will now "legally" qualify for every public assistance program. This will create an instant drain of tax payer dollars to support the 20 million added to food stamps, welfare, and housing assistance programs. Again the CLOWARD-PIVEN Strategy in action. Amnesty only does ONE major thing. It encourages new waves of invading criminal aliens to violate our national sovereignty hoping to wait out the politicians for the next amnesty. It also radically increases the numbers using government assistance. If the Health Care fiasco passes, it radically increases the amount of subsidy dollars that must be spent adding a NEW financial burden to tax paying Americans. It is by far less expensive to root them out, send them home, severely penalize employers, and finish building the wall.
  6. You sure have that backwards.
  7. the numbers are much higher and the damage to the U.S. citizens would be horrible! You don't reward people for disregarding laws and mooching off of tax payers.
  8. The numbers are there and anti's still deny it LOL! Great info Mell.
