Ron Paul points out the catastrophe of the Cap & Trade bill here. How will it affect you & all of us?

june 29, 2009 My personal preference for getting truth out of government officials is by reading the congressional page of ron paul, the only patriot, it seems to me, that is in congress. in this article, ron paul shows us how the cap & trade act, voted into law last friday, june 26, 2009, is going to hurt us far more than help us. under the circumstances that are so easy to understand per ron paul, how would we ever regain a free market?: http://www.house.gov/htbin/blog_inc?BLOG,tx14_paul,blog,999,All,Item%20not%20found,ID=090629_3005,TEMPLATE=postingdetail.shtml what do you think the cap & trade act is going to do to you in your life? in your children's life? in your grandchildren's life? will it enrich them or rob them, and how? and don't you think that it all came up too quickly for us, we, the people, to have much say in the matter to our congressmen? as always true with me, i invite you to return before the 7 day deadline and add more to your answer to make it as thorough as possible--because that's who will get the BA. if you have a change of opinion, go ahead, c'mon back and say why. one liners, as usual, get the TD immediately. please look today for my Q on the upcoming congressional vote on the health care plan.

  1. ron paul is dangerous in that some people may actually believe the drivel he spouts. Im not sure why anyone would, sheer pigheaded ignorance or just plain old greed could be two reasons. At worst the cap and trade will cost everyone a couple extra pennies, if that bothers you buy a couple energy saving bulbs and turn off the tv when you leave the room. If it doesnt bother you keep on driving that hummer and dont worry about it. This is an excellent time to make some hard choices, whats it gonna do at this point, put a few more people out of work in a couple industries? Slow our economic growth a couple percentage points? All short term hiccups to a long term problem. Burying your head in the sand isnt going to help, nor will sour grapes and name calling at obama solve anything.
  2. greppeld is clueless. You(greppeld) are a dangerous socialist. As far as Ron Paul goes he seems to be the only politician who has a clue and cares about whats really going on.
  3. Firstly the bill is wrongly premised that man-made CO2 emissions are a major problem and are responsible for climate change, which is untrue. How it will affect the common people is probably through carbon footprint restrictions and taxes, and fuel rationing. This is unnecessary from an environmental standpoint, and will lower our standards of living unless non-CO2 generating methods of providing power are implemented on a vast scale. Also this will promote the scam of selling carbon-offsets, which will only further enrich the elites, without really doing much for the planet.
  4. Luckily, it has not yet been voted into law. It did pass through the House, but we can still rattle the cages of our Senators to plea with them not to approve. This is one of those things that starts out at $200 per year and in ten years we will be paying $1000 per year and so on. We are slaves to the gov't and we work for them.
  5. This is just another hidden tax on the American people. I think some people need to sit down and actually add up all the taxes/fees they pay throughout the year including the not so obvious ones they would be shocked. The free market is the scape goat for a socialistic agenda. They create a crisis either economic or environmental and then expand government powers to eliminate freedom and solve the so called crisis. I am not sure we will ever see a true free market in our lifetime unless our government does a 180 degree turn on its policies. This bill will not personally affect me that much in regards to my cost of energy. Our power here in the Pacific NW mostly comes from dams which will not be affected by this bill in its current form. My household is probably greener than the households of every single person that voted for this bill. However, that is by choice not because the government is cramming it down my neck. I have 6kw in solar panels on my roof because I got to pay for them using my own tax dollars. I recycle because I want to. I use 99% biodiesel because I want to. I have freedom to make these choices. Freedom is not forcing people / business to do what you want by making it economically devastating if you don't. Nancy Pelosi purposely pushed this through fast to avoid the public backlash that would have caused it to loose support. The media is so focused on MJ's death that most people do not even know that it has passed the house already.
