What were your thoughts? Personally, I loved it. I would like to send this sort of message all the way up to the top of these major corporations, such as what CNBC is a part of. I respect Jon Stewart for being the voice for all of us who are the working middle class and getting "screwed" daily by the powerful in our capitalistic society. I think it is very true what Jon accuses Kramer, and all of CNBC of doing. CNBC is in bed with powerful companies, and use their "credibility" as a financial media resource to control business news and thereby manipulate the market. They showed video of Kramer himself talking about how he does this, in a video that wasnt supposed to make television. If fraud and manipulation within the stock market is a crime, then Kramer and the CNBC network executives, as well as the CEO's of various major corporations, are all criminals and should be punished, but they won't, because they have money and control over the right peope. Patricia - they don't carry The Daily Show in the South, or do you mean Comedy Central in general? Couple of others - yes I was surprised by Kramers calm approach, and was wondering, do you think he came on thinking the debate would be comedical and lighthearted, and was just completely caught off guard when they showed that tape of him confessing he manipulates the market in favor of certain companies? When they first showed a clip, he said he didn't mean himself directly and just misspoke, but then they went on to play further clips of him saying "I do X, and its not necessairly legal, but the SEC doesn't know about it, so I do it..." His voice sounding a bit shaky after that, I thought he was going to start crying for a moment. I think he was completely caught off guard and just tried to get through the interview, save some face, and get out of there Electric Eye - I didn't say Steward was a working stiff like us. In fact, I respect him because although he is not a "working stiff" he seems to maintain a practical view on things as most of us "working stiffs" would by pointing out the rediculous-ness of what happens in our media and government. And I don't think you have seen the interview then? Yes, I have watched Mad Money as I work in finance, but always felt something was fishy as some of the companys he promotes pay his network's advertising. If you watch the interview, you will see a video of Kramer "bragging" about how he manipulates the market in favor of certain companies by controlling the information that he feeds to his viewers, and also how he knows this is illegal manipulation but the SEC doesn't know about it. Its quite disturbing, and you may not think he is a stand up guy after seeing that.
