Tax payers are paying corporate american bailouts while ceo's make millions!?
The American government is bending over backwards to artificially sustain Corporate America while ruthless "good old boys" raids the company treasury. On average American CEOs make 10x the salary/bonuses Japanese CEOs make, yet American CEOs have done nothing to help their customers, help their employees or America. I am tired of seeing "the good old boys network" from corporate america to washington d.c. rob the american people both as a commercial entity and as a recipient of bail outs and grants. no more loans/grants (free money) or anything to corporate america. let the market do its thing. i am also in favor of tougher regulations on publicaly owned companies. why should i buy from or pay for as a tax payer companies that sustain men who do nothing but line their pockets with millions. I am sick of supporting america's top 1% of wealthy men. whats your opinion?

- If you start a company on your own then you are entitled to get paid what ever you want. If you get hired then no. The thing is many of these hire on ceo's just end up destroying the company, while taking as much money as possible. They had it as executive compensation as a way of lowering profits.
- thats the gov for you EAT THE RICH
- It is the same the world over. I reckon that they should be taxed according to their earnings. Some cannot even spend the the interest that they make on their weath after paying everything.
- I don't agree with the bailouts either. I fully believe in letting the market determine the winners and losers as well as who lives and who dies.... in the everyday, normal market. For me, the issue here is the current economy. Already, some of the states, including my home state of Ohio, are talking about needing government assistance to help pay for unemployment. I firmly believe that one way or another the money would end up being used. It just depends on how we want to use it. Do we want to give these companies the money to stay afloat and keep most of the jobs they offer or do we want to give all that money to unemployment services in each state after the jobs have been lost? Which is the lesser evil? I hate the idea of the bailouts but at this time I think it is necessary. I totally think that these companies should have to make some major concessions however. Maybe capping executive compensation for starters.
- I agree 100%. I think it is ridiculous that corporate executives at companies that receive government bailouts continue to get bonuses when their companies are failing financially. I believe corporate executives are paid too much, and I am against golden parachutes. I would prefer some of these companies go through Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. Let the marketplace decide who survives.
- Agreed but that is the way it works. But I saw this interesting thing though that kind of made sense. It was from Russel Crowe... yes the actor. No genius by any means but still it gave me thought. The US government will spend $700 million for the bailout. When all is said and done it will be billions. There are about 360 million Americans so would it not be far cheaper to give every legal man, women and child $1,000,000 tax free? People would buy cars helping the car makers. People would spend some buying whatever which would help retailers. Many would invest which would help the banks. Some would pay off their house or buy on which would help the mortgage bankers. Those who never were able to travel would be able to do so. Which would benefit other countries tourism add influx of dollars. The US currency exchange rate would go up. The list is endless. I am no fan of illegals. But even they would benefit from people renovating the house, doing landscaping and all. That is a separate issue It won't happen but I had a "hey wait" moment.
