David Frum, President Bush's speechwriter, says that conservatives are to blame for Obamacare passing?
Has anyone read this article? I haven't heard Glenn Beck mention any of this so I am skeptical but what do you think? http://www.frumforum.com/waterloo Excerpts: "At the beginning of this process we made a strategic decision: unlike, say, Democrats in 2001 when President Bush proposed his first tax cut, we would make no deal with the administration. No negotiations, no compromise, nothing. We were going for all the marbles. This would be Obama’s Waterloo – just as healthcare was Clinton’s in 1994. This time, when we went for all the marbles, we ended with none. Could a deal have been reached? Who knows? But we do know that the gap between this plan and traditional Republican ideas is not very big. The Obama plan has a broad family resemblance to Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts plan. It builds on ideas developed at the Heritage Foundation in the early 1990s that formed the basis for Republican counter-proposals to Clintoncare in 1993-1994. Barack Obama badly wanted Republican votes for his plan. Could we have leveraged his desire to align the plan more closely with conservative views? To finance it without redistributive taxes on productive enterprise – without weighing so heavily on small business – without expanding Medicaid? Too late now. They are all the law. We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat. So today’s defeat for free-market economics and Republican values is a huge win for the conservative entertainment industry. Their listeners and viewers will now be even more enraged, even more frustrated, even more disappointed in everybody except the responsibility-free talkers on television and radio. For them, it’s mission accomplished. For the cause they purport to represent, it’s Waterloo all right: ours."

- ORDER IN THE COURT I SAY TO YOUR HEALTH!!!! LONG LIVE OBAMA OUR SAVIOR
- Hahahaha. Conservatives lose. 1-0 Dems for the 2010s. But now you'll have the ball...what will you do with it?
- Now David Frum turn around and blame the stupid Christians for the Republican Fook up when David and Perle + other folks with 2 - 3 Citizenship advised Bush on how to screwed the USA for 8 long years David Frum and Perle even wrote a new Bible for the USA = An End to Evil........... but since most Social Conservatives were sooooooooooooooo busy waiting for Bush to ban gay marriage and end abortion.........they never bothered to read the new Bible
- And this bill is the best thing to happen to Repubs. It ensures they will gain many seats in November for the simple fact that most Americans don't like this bill. Funny now the Dems. want to keep score. I guess Scott Brown didn't count?
- Wait! Wait wait wait wait wait. You're skeptical because you haven't heard "Glenn Beck mention it?" LOL LOL LOL
- Thanks to the republican party it spurred the democrats to get the job done because without all the fear mongering, hate speech and racism from the right they would not have got mad enough to dig in and pass it, and pass it they are about to do in about 15 minutes. Dem's win Pub's Lose Health care is LAW!
- As much as Boehner and the rest of the Party of No failed to participate in Democracy, it allowed Dems to run unfettered. If the Republicans had been sincere and maintained sincerity and rapport, their thoughts would have been considered. then the goof ball racists and rabid mad dogs like Beck and Savage and Hannnity made it difficult for moderate republicans enter a dialog.
- HAHA. what does Dubya's speech writer know?? Is our children learning?
- Absolutely correct, on two counts. First, without abandoning Republican principles during the Bush years we would never have had a President Obama. Bush set us back 1,000 years (see the economy and Iraq). He was so disliked that any Democratic candidate would have won. Second, the Republicans went "all in" on destroying the Obama Presidency. They could have added strong tort reform and inter-state insurance; however, they bet that by calling names and riling up the base, they could set America back another 100 years and profit politically. Preposterous - these folks were voted into office to do our business - and they failed. Worse, the clones in the States will now destroy what is left of our wealth with partisan law suits and illogical laws against "socialism" in State Houses. The Republican Party, which I was once a proud member, is a joke. Frum is 100% correct.
- Hope you Obama disciples are happy with this bill. Probably won’t be cheering and applauding in 5-10 years from now. Everything in Obama's health proposal involves higher government taxes, higher government spending and more government regulation. Good job America, one step closer to turning this country into a full-fedged socialist institution. We are all for healthcare reform, just not this type and at this time. STOP THE SPENDING!!!!!!
