Are free market, "laissez faire" ideas more ethical than socialism?

Public Comments

  1. Any day commie mommy.
  2. No. Free market ideas are the antithesis of ethical.
  3. nothing could be more ethical than allowing a person the freedom to succeed or fail solely on their own merit. Emmy, funny how I never heard about those dying, limbless children. Sounds like more imbellished commie garbage you were hoping no one would call you on.
  4. There will always be ethical and unethical people in both systems. The system itself does not determine a person's ethics or whether an idea is ethical.
  5. To the working class who pay the majority of taxes---YES. The less taxes the better standard of living.
  6. You may not have noticed that there are no free markets!
  7. well laissez faire is ethical and could act as a support to ethical socialism
  8. How could anything be *less* ethical than socialism? "You strive, we'll collect the benefits and throw some scraps to those couch potatoes over there..."
  9. Yes.
  10. would you rather have the government control what you buy and sell thus paying more taxes and more charges or would you rather have a free market? but in a free market we still have to pay taxes! the government is unethical if you ask me
  11. No, just look at the Gilded Age. Children were working all day for pennies only to get their limbs cut off in work related accidents. They would then promptly be fired and left on the street to die. Although there are many good things about free market ideas, they do tend to leave out human compassion. Pure socialism of course, also has some serious downsides as well. In general, any pure idea when put into action will lead to horrible atrocities.
