why do so many people think network marketing is a pyramid scheme, when clearly the corporate world is?

i dont understand why people think network marketing is a pyramid scheme, complaining that you need to pay a fee to sign up, therefore it is a scam, because last time i checked, to start a mcdonalds, it costs like close to $ 1 million, and to start a network marketing company, like $20-$500, the corporate world is a pyramid structure, and network marketing is a reverse pyramid structure, leaving room for lots of people to get to the top, so i find it funny when someone says, " is that one of those pyramid things, where the guy at the top makes the most money, and you make the least, " well if your talking about that thing where your boss makes more then you, and his boss makes more then him, and his boss's boss, makes more then him, and the ceo makes more then everyone else, why is this ?

1. You're ignoring the large presence of pyramid schemers and scammers that are commonly associated with network marketing. While you or whatever company you work for may not be a scam, a large majority are or just turn out to be a waste of time because a lot of times the products are crap and the whole thing comes down to referrals instead of products (like a pyramid sceme). Blame them for giving the industry a bad name. That's just the way it is.
