What is the present market demand of C & C++ in Software Industry?
Presently I am working in a company where my project which is an embedded system product was earlier in C#, but since C# can't be ported to Linux so they are planning to redesign it in C. Hence I am going to change my coding platform. The reason behind using C is also that my present team leader has 10 years experience in embedded system programing using C. Many of the earlier employees of this company who worked in C are now well placed in MN Cs of Embedded System & Industrial Automation. So, I want to know that if I now start working in C then will it affect my career or boost it up? Please give me some good suggestion.

- It will certainly boost your career. In the software world, if you know C, C++, C#, COBOL, and all flavors of .NET, Java, etc. you will be invaluable. Knowledge is power. Think about it this way, if your company which is now shifting from C# to C decides it wants to shift back to C#, and then to say Java. They are going to look at their teams and say "who knows Java? Lets get rid of everyone who doesn't know Java. Now we will only be a Java shop." Well you only knowing C#, are going to be out the door with your personal effects. However, if you know C#, Java, and C, you have your desk and nice paycheck. For programmers/developers the more you know, the better you will be in the market. You will also be incredibly valuable to your company. For example, I am a recruiter. I have recruited for IT, business operations, clinical operations, sales, and marketing. Now I have been given the chance to work on a brand new implementation focused on heavy equipment manufacturing because I know constructin and farm equipment thanks to my rural Minnesota upbringing. This has allowed me to receive recognition and salary increases that have totaled 20% of my salary within 6 months! Again, the more you know, the more you will achieve.
- The market demand for C & C++ in Software Industry is not big now adays as it used to be.
