What are the pros and cons of multi-level marketing?

Is it really possible to earn millions? I am 40 years old and need to make a wise decision regarding the kind of business I would like to start.

Pros: None that I have found. Cons: Money - Most people (95+% who join an MLM end up losing money...and that estimate may be low). People - Most of your family and friends will avoid you like the plague. Time - You will find yourself going to one seminar/training after another (Shhh!...this is where the real money is made). Most MLMs are set up where the product ends up being irrelevant. The people at the top make most of their money off of the training tools and seminars. Personally, I have been a tax accountant for over 10 years and I have never seen a single person turn a profit with MLM regardless of which one it was. Most people end up losing a couple of grand and then quit. I did see one couple that I estimate had lost over $50,000 over 7 or 8 years. They were still convinced that it was going to make them rich.
