Privacy Issue with Facebook.?

I am very new to the whole FaceBook movement, but it is a wonderful and free marketing tool, as well as a social form of communication. Will I realize that there are different levels of privacy, I would like to know if it is possible for one to log onto their FaceBook page without anyone knowing you're on FaceBook. What a terrible inconvenience to be upgrading your content and your friends "pop up" wanting to chat (because they can see you're online). If it is possible, please give step by step instructions. Thanks. One more question. Sometimes I search for old friends to see what they are up to. I have no desire to be their friend, I'm just being noisy. Some times you are able to see their content and other times you're not, depending on their privacy settings. None the less, can the person I'm looking into know I was there?

Public Comments

  1. 1st - Everyone on your friends list knows you're on. This doesn't account for possible "bugs" (faulty code). 2nd - No. (Unless some thing's have changed since I left.)
  2. You can turn off the chat function at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, just click on the chat tool, then select options and go offline. This will stop people from turning up and wanting a chat. As for how much information you can find out about old friends that will be down to their own privacy settings.
  3. Nope the person that you visit wouldn't know that your viewing their profile. If you don't want to chat with others you could be invisible to others. yes you could log.in to facebook without know one knew that your on facebook by making your profile invisible to your friends.
