- Wikipedia defines it as this: Affiliate marketing is a marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's own marketing efforts. That being said, I see you are trying to tackle many things at once. Being interested in Affiliate marketing without knowing what "website traffic is" is like trying to run before you learned to crawl. The definition of website traffic is a pretty simple one. In laymans terms: It means how many people goto your URL (website). Each visitor is considered a "hit". In theory, the more hits (visitors or traffic if you will), generally means a higher percentage of you selling your product, or whatever your trying to do on that site. Example: Lets say you want to be an Affiliate of "Company A speakers" and you build a website exclaiming to the world of their great products and a link to their company site. You would then try to get as many people to YOUR site so that they will hopefully click over and go to "Company A Speakers" site and buy their product. When they do that, you get a percentage of the sale (because you are an Affiliate), because you referred them there and they did a sale. Now, about Online Ad Networks. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, because it can actually mean a couple of different things. The first one that comes to mind would be a network that you can sign up to that exchanges "ads" or "links" on each others websites. Or you could "buy" an ad and place it in their Ad Network exchange. Another great place to check out more information on affiliate marketing and how to go about getting in the business, you can check out a great blog of someone who has been doing it for years. - Hey Hana, sounds like you are very much in the early stages of affiliate marketing. Firstly you will need to find products to promote and understand the basic concepts. Check out Clickbank. com for selling digital products. Clickbanks vendors pay there affiliates anywhere from 25% - 75% commissions. They have a great getting started guide for their affiliates to get the basic concept of affiliate marketing. If you're interested in selling physical products then I would suggest checking out Amazon (I'm sure you are familiar with them.) Goggle > Amazon Associates. You can promote any of their products in exchange for a commission. The commissions are much smaller than selling digital products, ranging usually from 5% - 15%. However it's easier to sell physical products. I personally sell digital products. Personal choice really. Website traffic is simply the visitors who visit a website. Example: I am a visitor to yahoo answers now. I am therefore traffic to this website. There are a thousand and one ways to generate traffic and send to affiliated offers. Far more than I could explain here. People make affiliate marketing out to be really easy. It's not quite true. I have been an affiliate marketer for years and can honestly say that it will require you to learn new skills and study (just as if you were learning a course at university). There's no quick riches in affiliate marketing, but to those who commit, can genuinely create a generous income from the comfort of their own home. STAY AWAY from get rich quick products and software's. The downfall of many new aspiring affiliate marketers is getting caught out by the sharks who sell these lame products. Hop that helps. Check out Clickbank and have a read through their guide for affiliates.

- Like doing the affiliate business, it is quite simple and easy to become an affiliate to an affiliate program. Several companies are available on Internet that does not even require their affiliates to have their own website. Here, only the desire of being an affiliate partner is sufficient to enter into this business.
