  1. I am unsure how you are going about this. Upon reading your question, my first impression was that you'll create a website solely for your affiliate program. The most successful affiliate programs are those that fit well within the website -- meaning there is a website that provide useful information that visitors want and then the publisher simply adds affiliate program to help monetize the site. Using this model, it is better to find an affiliate program first before buying PPC If you are looking for free keyword tools I like SEOBook.com's tools the best http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/ . A good subscription based tool (not free) is WordTracker http://www.wordtracker.com/
  2. Let me share a little bit of my experience with you... and hopefully answer your question. When I started out with affiliate marketing I only used Google Adwords (GA). Intially I made very little money.... and became fustrated. The book that made a huge difference in my results with GA was GoogleAdwords123 (http://www.affiliatemarketinglessons.com/ga123.html) . This book approaches the situation in a different manner.... it focuses on the customer rather than the product.... and that made a significant difference. However, I don't use GA much now because I find that other Free forms of generating traffic quite effective, namely, writing articles, posting at forums, traffic xchange sites, etc. I would encourage you to use free forms of advertising as well. Though the results aren't as quick as GA, it is still quite effective. I still get quite a bit of traffic to my sites from articles I did almost a year ago. With respect to keyword analysis, I use two products - ClickAdEqualizer (http://www.affiliatemarketinglessons.com/clickadequalizer.html) and RapidKeyword (http://www.affiliatemarketinglessons.com//rapidkeyword.html). I find both of these very useful. ClickAdEqualizer is a little more useful for affiliate marketers since it also finds affilliate programs/products for you. Hope this helps...
